Recently, as a part of international movement to suppress global warming, reduction of CO2 emission has become the most important issue in Japan s steel industry. Energy consumption of Japan s steel industry accounts for approximately 12% of total domestic consumption, 70% of which is accounted for by consumption by blast furnaces.
