The repair mixes used for the BOF have the problem of a long hardening time. We examined the usage of pitch and a flow promotion agent. As a result, we obtained repair mixes with good flowability and high adhesion strength. The improvement at a real furnace was a 50 percent hardening time decrease and 30 percent corrosion resistance increase. It has contributed to the improvement in the rate of BOF operation and service life.
