內容簡介With its excellent corrosion resistance and thermal spalling resistance, MgO-C brick has been an essential refractory for the steel making process. The problem is that the carbon in it is easily oxidized in liquid and gas phases at high temperatures. The oxidation is often suppressed, for example, by the coating of brick surface by slag, but sometimes the direct influence of gas phase oxidation is found in such a place as the top tier of steel ladle linings. As for the effectiveness of oxidation prevention with additives at temperatures above 1000 deg C, many reports _(1)2)) have been made on a variety of additives such as Al, Al-Si, Al-Mg, B--4C, and Mg-B, among which boron compounds are known to exhibit supreme oxidation resistance. On the other hand, few reports are found on the effect of additives at temperatures below 1000 deg C; silicone resin is reportedly effective at such temperatures. 3) This paper reports the results of our investigation of the influence of additives on the gas phase oxidation or MgO-C brick at comparatively low temperatures.
